For this year’s National Infertility Awareness Week, I feel compelled to mention an important member of the infertility community.
I first met Justine Froelker via Twitter where her messages appeared frequently throughout my newsfeed. The messages were easier to keep up with when I was following less than 100 people (and vice versa), but as the months have passed, it’s been more difficult to read and digest each and every one of them.
However, Justine is not someone you forget. She is steadfast in her dedication to speak her truth, and remove the stigma of infertility.
She is consistent with her messages.
She is brave and vulnerable in her blog posts.
Justine and I have different stories. We walked different paths. My journey resulted in children, hers did not.
Yet, we still have a lot in common. We are both counselors. We are both passionate about supporting others – in particular, those who are suffering the ramifications of unfulfilled desires.
Although we are different, we both respect and support each other’s messages.
Justine recently created a #MoreThan1in8 campaign in preparation for National Infertility Awareness Week. She graciously featured many of our faces and journeys, showing the world that not only are our stories valid, but they’re important and must be heard.
A passionate infertility advocate, Jen Noonan destigmatizes the shame and guilt surrounding infertility and miscarriage. Her debut memoir, In Due Time, is available on Amazon at amzn.com/0996308601
